While the Configuration Console uses the ConfigurationUIHierarchy for opening and saving configuration files, there is still one problem. The ConfigurationUIHierarchy has no idea how to map the configuration runtime components to the design-time components. This is where the builder classes come in. There are two types of builder classes: one for creating the UI and the other for saving the configuration data. The builder class that is used for creating the UI will inherit the NodeBuilder base class. This class is called by the OpenCore method of the implemented instance of the ConfigurationDesignManager.
